Frequently Asked Questions

Won't the unisex lightweight jacket be too hot to wear in peak summer?

This is the right question, and the answer depends entirely on what the jacket is made of. A canvas or denim jacket in summer — yes, miserable. Double cotton gauze is a different proposition entirely. It's two loosely woven layers of cotton that together create a fabric with exceptional air circulation — warm air moves out, cooler air moves in. Wearing it in direct sunlight is actually cooler than going without, because it shields your skin from direct solar heat while still breathing freely. It sounds counterintuitive until you try it. Then it makes complete sense.

Does the unisex lightweight jacket block the sun effectively?

Yes — and this is what the jacket is genuinely designed for. Direct sunlight on bare skin heats you up faster than a light fabric layer ever will. Double gauze creates a barrier between your skin and the sun without trapping heat underneath, which is why cotton has been used as sun protection in hot climates for centuries. It won't replace SPF for extended outdoor exposure, but as a daily layer against harsh Indian summer sun — on a commute, on a bike, at an outdoor market — it does the job better than leaving your arms exposed.

Would the unisex lightweight jacket be useful for riding a two-wheeler in summer?

Yes. It was designed with this situation in mind. If you ride a scooter or motorcycle daily through Indian summers, you'll know the specific discomfort of direct sun on your arms and shoulders at a standstill or in slow traffic. A heavy jacket is out of the question. Bare arms means sunburn and accumulated heat. The double gauze jacket sits in the gap — light enough that you forget you're wearing it at speed, substantial enough to shield you from the sun when you're stuck at a signal. It's not protective riding gear, but as a casual riding layer for city commutes and weekend rides, it's hard to beat.

Is double gauze durable enough or will it tear easily?

Double gauze is lighter than canvas or twill, and it's not designed to take the same kind of punishment. What it does have going for it is that the two-layer construction distributes stress across both layers, making it more resilient than a single layer of the same weight fabric. Treat it as a lifestyle jacket — not as workwear or outdoor gear — and it holds up well with regular wear and washing. It's not fragile, but it's not built for rough handling either.

What is the fit like for the unisex lightweight jacket?

Relaxed and slightly oversized — which serves a functional purpose here beyond just aesthetics. A looser fit allows air to circulate between the fabric and your body, which is exactly what you want in a summer jacket. It also sits comfortably over a tee without restricting movement, whether you're walking, riding, or just going about your day. Check the size chart for chest and shoulder measurements before ordering.

How do I care for the unisex lightweight jacket?

Cold machine wash or hand wash with a mild detergent. Air dry flat or on a hanger — double gauze can distort slightly if hung while very wet and heavy, so gently reshape before drying. Do not tumble dry. Iron on low heat while slightly damp if needed. It's a low-maintenance fabric that handles regular washing without degrading.

Will double gauze cotton shrink after the first wash?

As with all natural cotton, expect 3–5% shrinkage on the first wash. Cold water washing and air drying keeps this to a minimum. The jacket is cut accounting for this, so following the care instructions should keep the fit consistent.

Do you ship across India?

Yes. We deliver pan-India through reliable courier partners. Orders are typically dispatched within 2–3 working days, and we will share tracking details via WhatsApp and email once we ship your order.

Would you be able to ship internationally?

Yes — we're open to it. As a small independent brand we don't have a standard international shipping setup yet, but if you're based outside India and want to order, get in touch with us directly at support@theruggedsoul.com and we'll work it out with you.

A few things worth knowing upfront. We'll need to look into import regulations and duties specific to your country before confirming, so there may be a short turnaround before we can give you a clear picture. Once we have it, we'll share a full breakdown of shipping costs (the garment base cost will be the same as what you see in INR converted to your currency) and any applicable customs duties before you commit to the order — no surprises landing at your door. International shipments are also subject to factors outside our control — geopolitical disruptions, customs delays, and the like — which we'll be transparent about as well.

Because managing returns across borders isn't practical for either party, we won't be able to offer the same return and exchange window that applies to domestic orders. To make sure we get the fit right the first time, we'll ask you for some detailed measurements before the order is confirmed — chest, shoulders, and ideally the measurements of an existing jacket or shirt that fits you well and comfortably. This way we can match you to the right size with confidence before anything ships.

Write to us at support@theruggedsoul.com and we'll take it from there.
