For most of India through summer and monsoon — yes, it will be. The corduroy jacket is intentionally a cooler weather piece. It's built for October through February across the plains, year-round in the hills, and the kind of Pune and Bangalore evenings where you actually want something with a bit of substance. If you're looking for a jacket that works in 35-degree heat, this isn't it — and we'd rather tell you that upfront than have you regret the purchase.

Only if you think good taste has an expiry date. Corduroy has been worn continuously since the 18th century — it disappeared briefly from mainstream fashion and came back, as it always does, because the fabric simply works. What we'd push back on is the idea that something being associated with a previous era makes it less relevant now. We are a slow fashion brand. We're not chasing what's trending this season. The corduroy jacket is here because it's a genuinely excellent fabric for outerwear — warm, textured, durable, and better looking with age. That's a more interesting reason to wear something than it appearing in last month's lookbook.

Wale refers to the number of ridges per inch in the corduroy weave — the higher the number, the finer and narrower the ridges. At 14-wale, this sits in the mid-wale range: refined enough to look sharp, substantial enough that the texture reads clearly. It's more versatile than wide-wale corduroy, which can feel costumey, and warmer and more characterful than very fine wale, which starts to resemble velvet. For a jacket, 14-wale is the practical sweet spot.

With reasonable care, no. Corduroy pile can flatten temporarily from prolonged pressure — a heavy bag strap worn in the same spot, for instance — but it recovers with light steaming or simply hanging out. Avoid storing the jacket compressed under other clothing for extended periods. Over years of wear, some softening of the pile is natural and generally adds to the jacket's character rather than diminishing it.

The 14-wale corduroy outer is soft by corduroy standards, but like all our jackets, it's lined with a cotton-flax inner that sits against your body. The lining is lightweight, breathable, and comfortable from the first wear — the corduroy faces outward, doing what it's designed to do aesthetically and structurally.

Turn it inside out before washing — this protects the pile. Cold machine wash or hand wash with a mild detergent. Air dry on a hanger away from direct heat. Do not tumble dry as heat can damage the pile. To restore texture after washing, brush gently along the wale direction with a soft garment brush while slightly damp. Iron inside out on low heat only if needed — never iron directly on the corduroy surface.

Some softening of colour over time is natural with 100% cotton. Washing inside out in cold water and drying in the shade will slow this considerably. Dark coloured corduroy jackets in particular benefit from being washed inside out from the very first wash.

Natural cotton can shrink 3–5% on the first wash. Cold water washing and air drying rather than machine drying keeps this minimal. The jacket is cut accounting for this, so following the care instructions should keep the fit consistent over time.

We'll need to look into import regulations and duties specific to your country before confirming, so there may be a short turnaround before we can give you a clear picture. Once we have it, we'll share a full breakdown of shipping costs (the garment base cost will be the same as what you see in INR converted to your currency) and any applicable customs duties before you commit to the order — no surprises landing at your door. International shipments are also subject to factors outside our control — geopolitical disruptions, customs delays, and the like — which we'll be transparent about as well.

Because managing returns across borders isn't practical for either party, we won't be able to offer the same return and exchange window that applies to domestic orders. To make sure we get the fit right the first time, we'll ask you for some detailed measurements before the order is confirmed — chest, shoulders, and ideally the measurements of an existing jacket or shirt that fits you well and comfortably. This way we can match you to the right size with confidence before anything ships.
